Hi there and welcome to my website. I started WholeyOats Granola with the intent on providing a whole-food product for everyone to enjoy. It all started out with a visit to the doctor back in the summer of 2007. With a family history of high cholesterol, I knew the doctor was going to tell me I needed to do something about mine. The doctor advised that my total number was above what is safe and suggested I try to lower that number naturally. Instead of going on medication, I decided to educate myself on eating healthier with the high hopes that that would naturally lower my cholesterol. Within three months I lowered my overall number by 18 points. One of the ways I did it (and still do) was by eating whole grains, mono-unsaturated fats (MUFAs), fruits, and other foods closest to their natural state. One excellent piece of advice I was given; shop the perimeter of your favorite grocer. This prompted me to start making my own granola. The store brands were high in sugar and fat as well as loaded with preservatives. I chose to create a recipe that contains "clean" sugars and the essential, healthy fats, known as MUFAs. You wonder, how did I do that with granola? I start off by using raw ingredients. Then clean sugars like maple syrup and honey are added to sweeten the granola and granola bars. Whole grain oats, oat bran, flaxseed meal, almonds, walnuts, sunflower & pumpkin seeds you may think are high in fat, that may be true, but these are the "good fats" the MUFAs as well as being an excellent source of protein. The oats and grains are excellent sources of fiber and protein.
WholeyOats Granola combined with your favorite yogurt and a drizzle of honey is the perfect breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack - whatever your tummy desires. Hey, right out of the bag works too - it's that Yummilicious!

Why I Eat WholeyOats?
Most mornings for breakfast I have 1/2 cup of the Maple Nut granola with 1/2 cup of non-fat plain yogurt. I add some fresh fruit and a drizzle of some local honey. This coming from someone who never ate breakfast. It has changed my life. I would go hours into my workday without eating anything only to load up at lunch time and then crash in the afternoon. Needless to say, not a healthy habit. Having this combination for breakfast sustains me throughout the morning hours and sets me up for a healthful day of eating. If I find myself running out the door, I grab one of the granola bars along with a piece of fruit and I am good to go.
I believe aging is a privilege we are given and we should take great care of our minds and bodies to the best of our ability.
I am sharing what I have created with you. I hope you enjoy it and keep doing so with me for years to come. WholeyOats is a work in progress. Everyday I strive to create a healthier, better product for you and me.
